harlem street singer
blind gary davis (or reverend gary davis) was a blues artist with a unique finger picking guitar style. he played ragtime and blues tunes as well as traditional and original tunes in four-part harmony. he was a huge influence on many blues and rock musicians to follow.

african blues
'ali and toumani' is a new release from ali farka touré and toumani diabaté. it's a posthumous release for touré, who succumed to lung cancer in 2006. the interplay between these two men, ali on guitar and toumani on the kora, is out of this world. have a listen.
